Hi, I'm Satoko. I love to talk to people so please let me help you with your Japanese language skills.

I can help you with conversational Japanese no matter what age you are.

I will adapt my lessons to cater for your individual needs no matter whether you are a beginner or more advanced speaker.

I hold a certificate in Japanese Language instruction from the World Japanese Language Centre.

I can teach you letters (hiragana and katakana), some common basic Japanese phrases, numbers, and vocabulary (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, and so on) in the first stage and then move on to teach grammar, counting and tricky conjugations (how to change verb and adjective mostly). Finally I can teach some you kanji and formal Japanese at the advanced stage.

I love teaching children and adults alike.

I am a Japanese native speaker but I live in Australia with my husband and 2 children and so I can communicate effectively in English as well.

I am a 51 year old student with no previous experience of learning Japanese. Rather than learning textbook expressions (which could be out-of-context and awkward in real life situations), I wanted to learn how to express myself in simple yet polite and contextually appropriate Japanese. Satoko is always attentive to my specific requests and patiently teaches me how to use socially and culturally appropriate expressions for different contexts. I recommend Satoko to anyone who wants to learn Japanse that can be used for real life situations and to understand interesting socio-cultural nuances!

Satoko-San is the best Japanese tutor I've had. She is very patient and understanding when you're a bit stuck! She's always willing to answer any questions you may have and explain in detail until you undertstand! Satoko-San has always made me feel welcome and I always have fun in her lessons while always learning something new. The content and structure of the lessons are tailored to what you would like to learn and the utilities she uses are amazing with different methods of learning! I won't be going anywhere soon! I have been taking Satoko-san's lessons for a few months now. She has always been very patient and able to catch my mistakes - she will then assign those as homework and review in the next lesson to make sure I have mastered the vocabulary and grammar. She is also very flexible in content customization and schedule change and make sure you get the exact amount of time (sometimes extra few minutes) and learnings needed. I will recommend Satoko-san to anyone who is seeking to make real progress in Japanese.

Satoko-san has a bright personality and is very engaging when she teaches. She will provide you with learning materials and sometimes share briefly about Japanese culture. You can ask her questions at any time and she will explain with many examples. I came in with little knowledge of the language and wanted to learn some words for travel, but i decided to continue for long term with Satoko-san as i see myself improving. You will find her very beginner friendly.

Highly recommend! Satoko sensei is a great Japanese tutor for me! I have been taking classes from Satoko for 2 months (14 lessons) so far. I enjoy learning Japanese very much because Satoko sensei is not only knowledgeable and efficient in teaching but also very patient with me! For every class, I get to practice a lot, trying making sentences and saying them out loud! I appreciate those practices, as practicing is the key to succeed in learning a foreign language!

Satoko does such a great job of encouraging me to try and figure out what is being done and is extremely patient with my reading. Never once did I feel rushed or unsupported even though I currently read hiragana very slowly. Satoko is also welcoming of mistakes and is kind when correcting my errors which also makes me comfortable to try my best. Thank you so much for today's lesson!
